Another Day in Hell

A Thursday. A good day to play in the graveyard. Rain falling outside, a chill in the air. I'll be on foot in my black trench coat when I go out later.

I got six pages into E05 yesterday. Again, I don't know how valuable any of this is going to be since I am feeling my way as I go. This still feels right, even though I actually worry it's going too fast. I may actually have the series drafted by the end of summer. Many conflicts elsewhere in the writing life. I'm trying to decide between focusing on Icebox Radio or starting a voice-over career. Leaning toward voice-over right now, since I cannot be entirely focused on IBRT. SL is something I'm supposed to be doing.

A good time to be working. Much to do.

4th Done Finally

Just a quick note. I've finished drafting episode four. It's a little short at 19 pages, but this a talky one, and it's easy enough to extend those by simply sending the conversation down another rabbit trail or two. A good day. I got my new toy in the mai (USB microphone) and I think I'll redo the old Imagination X episodes as a podcast just because I can.

I had a thought yesterday. I think this first draft will go very quick, but it will probably turn out to be less of a help than usual.

Back on the Horse

Thank you God, nine pages today.

Episode Four has begun to take shape, and that's a very good thing. I have created an entirely new character and an outlined one, the Menod, is showing a completely different side. It is a difficult side, because this guy, a villian, is showing a human side, despite being a demon. This is a difficult idea, but given the point in the story (Episode Four represents the ninth stage of the Cross, or descent into hell) this may be correct. I feel like things can move forward now.

Outside the SL, I have discovered a guy who might be a kindrid spirit. There's a 2.5 hour audio movie called 'The Spirit Blade' that is truly orginal. Imagin a sci fi story that's part comic book and part musical. Oh, and it's biblically based. Yeah, sounds weird, but I'm half way through the story and it's very good. Listening, I'm formulating many theories from this drama. One, fight and action scenes are difficult to really execute properly. Two, the whole concept of the audio movie (2-3 hour, single stories) might be a very difficult thing to do. I like the series idea better. People are more likely (I think) to listen a bit at a time then all at once. Broadcast presentation as opposed to feature length. Still and all, It's good to know someone else is doing something similiar.

A bad Week

Three pages of Episode Four today, and I feel lucky to get it.

I'm such a hack.

Back from the Far Away

Good Heavens, has it really been a week?

This, of course, is how all my attempts at journaling and keeping diaries fall by the wayside. One day turns into two turns into three and so-on. Maybe I was waiting to write until there was something to write about. As of yesterday, there is.

Eight or nine pages over the past few days. E03 was presenting some problems in that all the action I had planned on was finished by page 11 with the exception of the final moment where Gillian, now without her stone, wanders out to the Shadowland gate. I find myself getting into the science fiction nature of this place I've created. Flesh exists in this spirit rhelm, which is something most scientific minds are not ready to consider. At least in fiction, there has always been a definate line: spirit = transparant, living = solid. Perhaps what I'm creating is the first place where those lines get blurred. What if flesh, actual bones and skin, is necessary for suffering? It's the lack of linnear time that saves me from a total mess of a story. I have to be careful not to use it too much. Rather like Xena's wizzards ("Whenever something like that [a continunity error] happens, we say a Wizzard did it!")

E03 will be done today or tomorrow. I think the thing to do is dive into E04. Partially striking when the iron's hot, partially the fact that I'm talking to area business people about having a new season of IBRT plays next winter. That's 13 new stories between now and then with the Shadowland to boot. I think I becoming Bob Fosse of "All That Jazz" without the fame or money.
