Intro
I have never been very good at keeping journals or records of my work. This blog is an attempt to change that.
My name is Jeffrey Adams and I'm a writer working on a new project called 'The Shadowland'. The project is very personal to me, and very frightening. It is being written as a 13 part series to be listened to either on radio or podcast or CD. That is the art form I work in: audio drama.
The story is about a 20 year old woman who commits suicide after being raped, only to wake up in a place called The Shadowland, a Dark Wood between Heaven and Hell. I won't reveal what happens next, but her purpose is to move toward redemption. I myself am not entirely sure how she will get there, though I have completed a series outline.
I will not carefully craft my words in this blog. I will not make it a publicity engine. I will attempt to put down my thoughts, fears and ideas so that there might be a record of this process when it's done. This is important to me because the Shadowland is more than just another project. It is a calling, meaning that it is what I'm supposed to do right now.
Furthermore, this blog will not be linked to any other site on the web for some time. If you found it, you must have stumbled upon it by accident. Congratulations. I will not spend time proofing and correcting this blog. Mistakes have something to say too.
Today is Tuesday. It's bright sunny and cold out, 6 above zero Fahrenheit. I've been very angry all day, but it hasn't translated into pages. That's a shame because this stage of episode two could use some anger. On a whim, I bought a CD set called 'Masters of Horror' at K-Mart, the best department store we have in this town (really). It turned out to be horror rock, the same kind of music I always envisioned for SL. I've never heard of any of the bands, and there is zero information in the case, but I find listening too it very medicating. I guess sometimes, it's nice to know someone else feels worse.
I'm indifferent to redemption today. I'd just like to be left alone with the loud boys and their demons.
